Ms. Chavis is educated in both law and psychology.  After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, she obtained two Master’s Degrees from Arizona State University.  Specifically, she holds a Master of Public Administration and Master of Social Work.  Since graduating law school and opening her practice in 2004, she has always limited the firm to family law matters.  Ms. Chavis is admitted to practice law before all California Courts as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. 
 
Ms. Chavis’ education, training and personal divorce experience enable her to deal not only with client’s emotions from a terminating marriage, but also with the separation of financial and other affairs.  She understands the legal decisions made deeply affect the lives of clients and children.
 

This unique blend of law and psychology benefits all involved, particularly in conflict resolution and negotiation.  She is well suited to help clients in crisis pass through intense psycho-social changes back to wellness, satisfaction, and happiness.  Often, clients or opposing parties have added challenges of addictions, serious mental health and other personality disorders.  Further, the divorce process typically results in feelings of anger, shock, and fear, coupled with pressure from legal deadlines, dirty tricks by the opposing side, and an inability to control what is happening.
